Only 6 bags of rubble a month

During my recent trip to the Maidenhead tip that you can only take 6 bags full of rubble to the tip a month in your car. For more than this, you probably need to start paying for it. Isn't this encouraging people to fly tip?

Got the new golf clubs :)

Finally, I 've got my brand spanking new golf clubs last week. They're Lynx Blackcat ones. I haven't had the chance to play with them yet though; not even at the driving range :( So, the excitiment is wearing off a bit now.

I'll get out and play a round soon hopefully.

Letting Agents Reading

Appleton Lettings Reading is making very good progress.

Especially the exceptional quality of service to both the landlords and the tenants seem to be head and shoulders above every one else.

Eton Excelsior Pubs and Clubs Regatta

Our crew, Oarsome, proved to be one of the favourites from the start by beating Norfolk Enchance even though we had a shaky start. In the quarters, again, we rushed a lot in the first 100 metres; lost the lead. Then we somehow got it together and beat the other team. Now we were in the semis against one of the other favourites RG30. As usual, we had a shaky start but then got the rythm soon and caught up with the other crew. This put more pressure on them and they lost the bottle. One of their crew came off his seat and they threw the towel in. This was our best performance though. For 300 metres we were perfect. In the final we were racing against another Nortel team, Salad Dodgers. We were in our least favourite boat, Tuffley. We were all over the place during the race, everyone catching crabs. We eventually lost the race by 1/3.

Rowing

We've just had our first lesson on the water for the coxed-4 rowing competition. It was great fun even though it is hard work trying to remember all the terminology and the technique.

So far, it has been an amazing championship so far, especially the Women's 800 metres heats have been amazing.

Chris' Stag Party

It was a good party.

We started with a pint in Balham in the morning, then moved onto the go-karting. I managed to finish 9th out of 18 racers. Not too bad I suppose :)

Then we spent few hours around Clapham Common, drinking, playing ultimate frisbee. This waqs the first time I played it, it's quite good actually.

Then had a bite to eat and carried on parting until 05:30 in the morning.

Escape to the Legion

I watched the first episode of "Escape to the Legion" on Channel 4. I loved the programme. The training seems to be much more about psychological than physical.

But at the end of the day, it separates man from boys.

I've already set my recorder to tape the next episode :)

U-Turn

I watched the film last night. Sean Penn, J Lo are the leading actors. The film is about some weird sequence of coincedences happening in a small mid-west US town.

I didn't really rate the film personally.

Got back in the gym again on Tuesday, still aching.

I'm now participating a regatta in September as part of a cox-4 crew.

The whole idea is that all of the participant in the competition should be total novices.

There has been a very good editorial write-up about the Maidenhead Letting Agents in the Maidenhead Advertiser this week, with the heading of "Akkus launches new online service".

The article goes on to reiterate the different services offered.

Liverpool finally made it

What a great occasion Liverpool is playing in the Champions League Final, where they belong.

The more exciting perspective is that they're playing in Istanbul.

The elections

Next Thursday is the election. Green Party doesn't seem to have a local candidate here. So, I have to choose between 5 right-wing parties:

- Labour
- Conservative
- Lib Dems
- BNP
- UKIP

What a choice :)

Finally done it.

Sunday was the Reading half marathon.

I have successfully completed it in 1 hour 56 minutes and 59 seconds :)

Also, I am on the right track for collecting £200 for the CLIC charity.

Thursday, February 17, 2005

The training for Reading Half marathon is going well. I managed 8 miles in 65 minutes last week, which is a good time for me.

I had few injuries from the Sunday before so I had to stop a few times to stretch my lower back but did it in the end.

At the weekend, we had an 11-a-side football league game against another team. We were 4-1 down with only 22 minutes to go and managed to beat the other team 5-4.

I managed to cross the ball for our first goal and score our second. Had few other chances as well.

Was really chuffed.
